“my one”

Man and valour
I see you training your arms for more
I see you seeking God
And pouring and pouring.

My heart moves with gladness,
Behold, what I have long sought.
Two can chase much farther
When their union proves what the Lord hath wrought.

But my heart quivers still
For fear I will not measure up.
I see stories and people giving thanks,
And their women are everything I am not.

Will you look past who I am today
And see everything I could be?
Will you be a reflection of Yah’s shoulder
And scoop me up from where you’ve found me?

If by me you find no peace, flee;
Do not wait here in pity.
But if your moon can sit through my nights
I will learn to hold it dear and tight.

I’m hoping Abba sent you to me
I’m hoping we can work.
I’m hoping you won’t leave me soon
And maybe we’ll fall deep in love.

But dear friend,
Yah’s will must be done
Even if that brings us to an end,
For I know not every life breeding light is going to be “my one”.
And that not every beautiful thing
is going to belong to me.
